Our first walks from the winter programme will be on a half day, finishing at Ambleside on Saturday 28th October 2017.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Charlie Overett and starts from the bus station, walking past the Salutation Hotel to pick up Stock Ghyl Lane before taking the path for Wansfell. At the summit we head north-east for Haystones then south to pick up Nanny Lane and descend to Troutbeck, taking the road for half a mile to Robin Lane, High Skellgill and Skellgill Wood to Jenkins Cragg for views over Lake Windermere. We descent to the road at Ambleside to take the path through the garden centre to pick up the road into Ambleside and into town. 1,750 ft and 7½ miles.
The ‘B’ walk will be led by Tom Hodgson and starts at Grasmere taking the road leading to the coffin route and Rydal. We take the path up to the falls at Buckstones and after retracing our steps for a short distance cross Rydal Beck into Birk Hagg. A path leads down to Rydal then on through the park to climb to Low Sweden Bridge and take the lane back into Ambleside. 3 climbs with an overall ascent of 1200 ft and just over 6 miles.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Colette and Anne and starts at White Moss car park to take the path by the river, up through the wood and across the bridge to Grasmere Lake. We then take the track leading up to Rydal Water and Rydal Mount. We walk through the park and after a short road walk to Ambleside. 4½ miles and four short ascents.

What a wonderful holiday we had in Menorca - sunshine, sand, sea, sightseeing and walking. We had a lovely hotel with good (and lots of) food. Many thanks to John for all the work he has done in arranging another lovely holiday. Anyone who has taken photos on this holiday, please send them to me so that I can include them in the slide show. If I get a lot of pics, I may be able to do a separate slide show just on the Menorca holiday if we get enough people to support coming to see it.
