|Our next walks from the Summer Programme:
Saturday 29th September 2018
Our penultimate walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Grasmere on Saturday 29th September 2018.
The A walk will be led by Gary Marsh and is a circular leaving Grasmere village by Easedale Road to follow the good path by Sourmilk Gill to Easedale Tarn. We will continue on this path past the Tarn until we get to Belles Knott to turn for Codale Tarn, after which the path largely disappears but we make our way through low crags, over grass and scree to reach the summit of Sergeant Man (2,414ft). Descent is by the clear path back to Easedale Tarn and Sourmilk Gill back into Grasmere. 8½ miles and 2,200ft of ascent.
The B walk will be led by Lynne and Audrey and begins at the Swan Hotel, following a lane before crossing a small river onto the fell side for a steep climb to Alcock Tarn where there are lovely views over Grasmere and Windermere. We then descend on the path towards Rydal, passing Rydal Mount and the Church before crossing the main road and the river Rothay to head back to Grasmere following the shores of Rydal Water and Grasmere. About 7 miles and 1,600 ft.
The C walk will be led by Nigel Purcell - details later.

6th-13th September 2018
A big thank you to John for arranging such a brilliant holiday to Slovenia. The weather was wonderful and Graham had arranged our brilliant walks (if a bit hairy in places!). What a lovely place Kranjska Gora and the surrounding area is. John arranged a trip to the capital Ljubljana which was great and some of us went to Lake Bled which is also a really lovely place. We went up the winding Vrsis Pass by coach and then walked down and some of us also walked up and then down.
Can't wait for our holiday in Poland next year....
